Alworth Fund scholarships

With the opening of the college scholarship application season Nov. 1, the Alworth Memorial Fund celebrates 65 years of providing more than $44 million in scholarships to more than 4,700 northern Minnesota high school seniors pursuing math and science degrees.

Local recipients of the 2013-14 Alworth Memorial Fund scholarship include:

Erin M. Brine-Doyle, Pequot Lakes High School graduate, freshman at University of St. Thomas, studying mathematics.

Catie J. Burkhead, Pequot Lakes High School graduate, junior at University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point, studying wildlife ecology: information and education.

Natasha D. Gallett, Pequot Lakes High School graduate, junior at University of Minnesota-Twin Cities, studying biology.

Jacob C. Headlee, Pequot Lakes High School graduate, senior at University of Minnesota-Twin Cities, studying mathematics.

Isabel G. Lawrence, PR-B High School graduate, freshman at Concordia College, Moorhead, studying medicine.

Gregory A. Nagel, PR-B High School graduate, senior at University of Minnesota-Twin Cities, studying mathematics.

Samuel J. Ruohoniemi, PR-B High School graduate, freshman at North Dakota State University-Fargo, studying mathematics.

I've worked at the Brainerd Dispatch with various duties since Dec. 7, 1983. Starting off as an Ad Designer and currently Director of Audience Development. The Dispatch has been an interesting and challenging place to work. I'm fortunate to have made many friends, both co-workers and customers.
