On Saturday, Sept. 14, the quad drill team with all Independent 4-H members who live or train their horses in the Pequot Lakes area — Danielle Palmer, Sheridan Wilson, Lillian Landis and Crabtree — received first-place medals for their performance.

The large drill team included Independent members Sam Beach, Tyler Blazek, Lataya Goedderz, Robinson, Kaitlyn Borgstrom and Sierra Hynes; Sam Meier of the Black Bear club; Korbyn D’Ambrogio and Rylee Minten of the Wolf Creek Riders club; and Mikayla Rahto in Daggett Brook performed a drill.

Comments from the team afterward included “amazing,” “fun” and “we pulled together” with a comment from their fans that the audience was impressed with the performance.

Landis, Minneapolis, was fourth in Pony Pleasure and fifth in English Showmanship. Palmer placed 10th in Western Horsemanship. Alexis Visser, Independent member from Pequot Lakes, was a Dan Patch finalist and placed 10th in Poles.
