Learn basics of directing a play

Directing Basics will take those interested in taking the reins of a production through the process.

Gary Hirsch, who has more than 35 years of directing experience and more than 100 shows to his credit, will share his knowledge and experience as he directs the Pequot Lakes Community Theatre production of “Oliver!”

The class will meet once before the production starts, once after and several times through the stages of the rehearsal period: auditions, blocking, cementing and polishing.

A schedule will be given at the first meeting. This class will start at 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 5, in the Pequot Lakes High School Theater. The last class will be at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 26.

Class fee is $25. Pre-registration is required. Contact Pequot Lakes Community Education at 218-568-9200 to register or for more information.

I've worked at the Brainerd Dispatch with various duties since Dec. 7, 1983. Starting off as an Ad Designer and currently Director of Audience Development. The Dispatch has been an interesting and challenging place to work. I'm fortunate to have made many friends, both co-workers and customers.
