Deep Portage offers summer programs
Deep Portage Learning Center in Hackensack offers the following programs June 25-Aug. 7 that are open to families and individuals. All programs begin at 1 p.m. and run approximately one to two hours.
• Climbing Wall: June 25 and July 3, 19 and 24
The wall is for ages 8 and older. It is 35 feet tall and designed to challenge a wide variety of climbing abilities.
• Tower Hike: June 26 and July 3, 19 and 24
It’s a 20-minute hike to the 55-foot observation tower, the highest point at Deep Portage, where on a clear day it is possible to see 15 miles.
• Family Archery: July 2, July 16 and Aug. 7
Instruction and equipment are provided, including compound and recurve bows. This program is suitable for ages 8 and older.
• Family Canoe Trip: July 15
Travel up the Little Boy River for a fun, safe afternoon on the rivers and lakes of Deep Portage.
Regular program fees are $5 for adults, $3 for children 12 and under, and $3 for seniors and Deep Portage members. The Climbing Wall program is $10 per person.
Deep Portage is located 10 miles east of Hackensack, off Cass County Road 46.
