Luke Fyle (senior), Marissa Miller (senior), Abby Person (eighth grade) and Angela Cole (junior) will compete Saturday, April 20, at the Class A State Tournament at Blaine High School. They qualified for state by placing in the top three of their respective categories.

Fyle and Miller took second place in Dramatic Duo. Person placed third in Extemporaneous Reading. Cole was third in Prose.

Each contestant spoke in three preliminary rounds of competition. The scores they received from these rounds were totaled to determine who would speak in a final competition round. Final ranking was determined by adding the scores from all four rounds of speaking.

For Fyle, Miller and Cole, competing at state is no new accomplishment. Fyle has attended three times and Miller and Cole have both gone twice. Cole placed sixth place in Prose at last year’s state tournament.

This will be Person’s first time competing at state.

Other members of the team competed in the Section final rounds but did not earn a place at State. Ben Sullivan took sixth place in Prose, and Katie Northenscold was fifth in Creative Expression.
