Series aims to prepare entrepreneurs
The 2013 Advantages series aims to help people plan to be a successful entrepreneurs.
This series will include four one-and-a-half sessions that will help participants be better prepared if they are looking to start a business.
Attend one or attend the whole series. Take them in any order. Some of these sessions will also be helpful for those who are in business already.
This series will be repeated each month this spring. Follow-up counseling is available from the Small Business Development Center’s team of consultants at no charge.
• Forms of Business Structure is planned from 6-7:30 p.m. April 2 at Central Lakes College Room No. E151 in Brainerd.
Learn the basics of how to select, plan and organize the business form that is a perfect fit. Each form has advantages and disadvantages in complexity and taxation so use professional accounting and legal advice when appropriate.
• Marketing Your Small Business will be offered from 6-7:30 p.m. April 9 at Central Lakes College Room No. E151 in Brainerd. This course will go deeper into the marketing section of the business plan. Review traditional methods of marketing, what part social media should play in the marketing plan and how a business decides where its marketing dollars should go.
This session will also talk about determining a target market and how to reach that market with advertising. This session is for anyone starting or purchasing a business, or for anyone who has a small business and has a social media fear. Fee is $30 per person per session, or $100 per person for all four in the series. Instructor is Jay Bock.
