Woodturning classes offered in April
Have you always wanted to work with a wood lathe but didn’t know where to start or maybe you’ve had some training but wanted to learn more. Now is the time to take a woodturning class with instructor Tom Larson. Larson is a highly skilled, experienced wood crafter who has the knowledge to help you learn a new craft. He offers a beginners class and an intermediate class.
Beginners: Learn the basics or practice a new technique. Tom is happy to customize a class for you. You will learn about basic spindle work with several types of cuts using a variety of chisels and go home with a finished piece. This class is held on Wednesday, April 10, from 6-10 p.m.
Intermediate: This session will be particularly useful for the newer turner who wants to build and practice their turning skill. Safety, lathe operation, tools and sharpening will be discussed and demonstrated. You will be amazed as you turn a “chunk” of wood into a beautiful bowl.
This class is held on Thursday, April 11, from 6-10 p.m.
Both classes are held at the instructors shop in Brainerd (directions are provided once you have registered). The fee is $83 per class - this includes all supplies (you can register for one or both classes). Bring a safety helmet, dust mask and tools if you have them. Pre-registration is required, call Pequot Lakes Community Education, 218-568-9200.
