Donations, volunteers sought for Pequot Lakes High School Grad Blast

The Pequot Lakes High School Grad Blast began in 1990 with just 60 graduates and a 1985 Buick was given as the grand prize.

By 1993, enough donations were obtained to make sure every graduate left the event with a nice prize.

To date, this event has achieved a 95 percent turnout rate on the night of graduation. In the past 23 years of Grad Blast, there has not been one automobile accident involving Pequot Lakes graduating seniors.

The Grad Blast Committee is planning now for the 2013 Grad Blast event. There are 133 Pequot Lakes seniors and the committee’s goal is to provide a safe evening of fun, good food and special memories for graduating seniors.

But the committee needs the community’s help.

The Grad Blast Committee is asking for donations, big or small. The committee knows times are tough and appreciates any support. Because of generous contributions last year, the 2012 Grad Blast event had a record turnout of graduating seniors.

The committee is grateful to the business community who has always found a way to keep this event happening for students.

The Grad Blast Committee also needs parent volunteers to help with the event (decorating, games, casino and clean up). Email if you can volunteer a few hours of your time May 24-25.

Send donations to Pequot Lakes Grad Blast Committee, PO Box 573, Pequot Lakes, MN 56472.
