Speech team sees success

Success continues for the Pequot Lakes Jr. and Sr. High Speech Teams. Last Tuesday brought the Jr. High team all the way to Bemidji where a total of seven awards were earned by the team. For Creative Expression, Allie Miller once again took home the first place medal. Others on the team who earned awards were, Abby Person in Extemporaneous Reading, Jacob Giedd and Nova Kilbourne in Humorous Interpretation, Vanessa Sellner in Informative, and Courtney Rock and Breanna Hanson in Serious Prose. The Jr. High team will attend their final invitational of the season on March 12 in Walker.

On Saturday, March 9, the Sr. High team braved the slick and icy roads to compete at the Osakis/Parkers Prairie Invitational. Nearly every team member in attendance took home an award. In Dramatic Interpretation, Angela Cole took second Place, Michelle MInk was awarded a blue ribbon, and Breanna Rhodes took home a red ribbon. Jacob Giedd earned a blue ribbon in Humorous Interpretation and Nova Kilbourne took home a red ribbon. Vanessa Sellner earned fifth place in her category of Informative, and Erin Brine-Doyle earned fourth place in Serious Poetry. Finally, in Serious Prose, Ben Sullivan won first place and Angela Cole earned third place. The season is quickly coming to a close for the team with only two more regular season tournaments before post-season competition begins. Next Saturday, March 16, the team will be traveling to Milaca, MN.
