Minnesota peonies to be presented in Pequot Lakes, Crosslake
Minnesota peony expert Harvey Buchite will present “A 2013 Premier Presentation of Minnesota’s Grand Peony History” on the history and role of Minnesota peonies within the state as well as across the country as part of a free Kitchigami Regional Library System Legacy Program.
He will present this program at the Pequot Lakes Library at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 19, and at the Crosslake Community Center at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Feb. 22.
Past president of the American Peony Society, Buchite is an advocate for growing these perennials and, along with his wife, Brigitte, grows more than 600 varieties at their Hidden Springs Flower Farm in southeastern Minnesota.
He will present Minnesota’s grand peony history in a colorful big-screen digital format that allows time for questions from the audience. Learn a bit of Minnesota’s role in the history of peonies and the development of ever-more-hardy species.
Buchite’s experience spans many years and he has first-hand knowledge of growing peonies and developing new hybrids.
