Backus meeting slated Monday for grant interest

Backus residents are strongly encouraged to attend a meeting at 6 p.m. Monday, Feb. 3, at Backus City Hall to learn how to get grant money to rehabilitate homes and businesses in the city.

This grant opportunity is not yet approved, but if residents show strong interest, it could be available by July.

In November, the Cass County Economic Development Corp. submitted a pre-application for a Small Cities grant for Backus and Longville together. The request was one of 36 in the state invited to make full application.

For funding to be approved, it is urgent that Backus residents attend this meeting and show strong interest in the program.

Bi-Cap of Bemidji will describe rehab in more detail at this meeting. Residents could receive up to $20,000 each for rehab needs if the final grant is approved.
