Good Samaritan Society buys Baxter land; seeks community input for senior living vision

Good Samaritan Society has finalized a deal to purchase the land formerly known as Baxter’s Pine Meadows Golf Course.

Good Samaritan Society is partnering with Baxter-based Nor-Son, Inc. to develop the vision for the future of the new campus as well as the evolution of services at the Bethany and Woodland campuses in Brainerd.

Good Samaritan Society invites the lakes area community to join the conversation and planning process by participating in an online community Vision Survey.

“We are excited to become the guardians of this great piece of land and are now looking to understand what the community wants,” said Mike Deuth, executive director of Good Samaritan Society-Communities of Brainerd and Pine River. “This is an opportunity for all of us to shape our future together, not just as seniors, but as neighbors and community. We want those who live here to be part of the process in building this vision.”

The online Vision Survey will be available to the public on the Good Samaritan Society-Communities of Brainerd and Pine River website, or, through Jan. 20. Following completion of the survey, participants will have an opportunity to enter for a chance to win one of five possible $100 prizes.

After receiving community input through the Vision Survey, Good Samaritan Society will continue to work with Nor-Son and a small, community-based, core planning team to further develop the strategy and vision that will serve the community many years into the future.
