The community is invited to attend a reception celebrating Dr. David Boran’s retirement from 12:30-3 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 27, at Essentia Health-St. Joseph’s Medical Center, River Room, located on the lower level.

Refreshments and cake will be served and a memory book will be available for writing a message of congratulations.

Boran, who has worked in the field of family medicine for more than 36 years, came to Brainerd to join the Lake Region Clinic in July 1977 after finishing his family practice residency in St. Paul.

During his tenure, he served on the St. Joseph’s Medical Center Board of Directors, was medical director of the Focus Unit, was involved in the merger of Lake Region Clinic and Brainerd Medical Center, the integration of Brainerd Medical Center and St. Joseph’s Medical Center to form Brainerd Lakes Health, the development of the Brainerd Lakes Heart and Vascular Center and the Baxter Clinic, and, most recently, as chief medical officer had the opportunity to participate in the recruitment and hiring of physicians over the past 10 years.

Dr. Peter Henry, emergency medicine at Essentia Health-St. Joseph’s Medical Center, has been named chief medical officer and assumed that role in July, in transition, working alongside Boran.

After retirement, Boran and his wife, Mary, plan to stay in Brainerd and devote more time to photography, gardening, personal fitness and spending more time with their grandchildren.
