SWCD offers workshop on managing turf grass to save money
Crow Wing Soil and Water Conservation District (SWCD) invites property managers, private maintenance companies, schools and parks departments to attend a workshop on how to better manage turf grass that will reduce costs, save time and keep lakes and rivers healthy.
The workshop will be from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday, July 10, at the Crow Wing County Land Services Building on Laurel Street in Brainerd.
The workshop is co-presented by Fortin Consulting Inc., turf grass experts and maintenance professionals. Participants may receive certification for Minnesota Pollution Control Agency (MPCA) level I turf grass maintenance. Certified individuals will be listed on the MPCA website.
Training topics include equipment calibration, selection and application of fertilizers, mowing techniques, pesticide application tips, environmental effects, best practices for turf grass management, legal issues and additional resources.
Workshop cost is $15 per person and includes a copy of Turfgrass Maintenance with Reduced Environmental Impacts manual, refreshments and lunch.
Funding for these workshops is provided by the MPCA through a grant from U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, Section 319 Nonpoint Source Management Fund, and matching funds from Crow Wing SWCD.
