More than 230 people attended last year.

“This event is open to anyone who wants to learn more about leadership,” said Chris Etzler, mayor of Staples and one of the event organizers. “Everyone is welcome, community leaders, committee members, small or large business owners and managers, employees, anyone who wants to improve their skills.”

Etzler said the new location this year at the Town’s Edge Restaurant and Event Center will provide more intimate seating and better sound quality. However, he said seating will be limited so he encouraged people to get their tickets early.

Ticketing for Leadercast is handled by Staples Motley Community Education. Registration forms can be found by clicking on the Community Education link at www.isd2170.k12.mn.us. Registrations will also be taken at 218-894-2497.

Continuing education credits can be earned by attending this event.

The registration fee includes materials, breaks and lunch. Limited scholarship assistance is available. The deadline for registering is April 26.

Chick-fil-A Leadercast is a one-day leader development event broadcast live from Atlanta, Ga., to hundreds of sites throughout the nation, including Staples. Speakers for this year’s event include: Jack Walsh, former chairman and CEO of General Electric; Andy Stanley, best-selling leadership author and communicator; Mike Krzyzewski, head men’s basketball coach, Duke University and Team USA; Sanya Richards-Ross, 2012 London Olympic gold medalist, track and field; Dr. Henry Cloud, best-selling author and leadership consultant; Lt. Cmdr. Rorke Denver, Navy SEAL and star of 2012 movie “Act of Valor”; John C. Maxwell, best-selling author and leadership expert; David Allen, best-selling author of “Getting Things Done” and productivity expert; and Condoleezza Rice, former secretary of state (2005-09), in an exclusive Simply Lead video interview with John C. Maxwell at Stanford University.

The program will focus on how to strengthen your leadership by simplifying your life.

The program day allows time for information from local sources. Frank Odell will give a presentation of “Find Treasure Within Leadership.” Short summaries will also be given on the Leaders Partnering to End Poverty program in Staples and on the biking and hiking trails being developed in Staples.

Etzler also invited any local non-profit or civic organization to provide materials for an information table. Call him at 218-894-2497 to make arrangements.

The local availability of this broadcast is being arranged by LEAP, a local think tank with membership from many segments of the community, including business, manufacturing, government, education, healthcare and youth. LEAP is an acronym for Leadership, Engagement, Advocacy and Positiveness.
