Pine River graduate promoted to chief master sergeant
Duane R. Kangas, of Moorhead, was recently promoted to the rank of chief master sergeant in the North Dakota Air National Guard. He is a first sergeant in the Fargo, N.D.-based 119th Wing.
Kangas served in the Air Force from 1984-88 and joined the Air National Guard in 1989. He has 28 years of military service. Kangas works full-time as an aircraft maintenance technician for FedEx at the Grand Forks International Airport, Grand Forks, N.D.
He is a 1984 graduate of Pine River High School and holds a bachelor’s of science degree from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, Daytona Beach, Fla.
He and his wife, Linette, have two children: Madeline, 16, and Noel, 14. He is the son of Robert Kangas and Betty Kangas of Pine River.
