Edina Realty Foundation awards $1,500 grant to Crosslake Food Shelf

The Edina Realty Foundation recently awarded a $1,500 grant to the Crosslake Food Shelf.

“Families served have quadrupled in recent years and continues to increase by about 70 percent each year,” said Doris Mezzenga, Crosslake Food Shelf coordinator. “It is extremely hard to keep up with the demand, and without community grants and volunteers we would not be able to make this work for those in need in this community.”

Edina Realty Foundation grants help homeless families in markets where Edina Realty does business. A large portion of grant money for the food shelf came directly from the Realtors of the Edina Realty Crosslake sales office.

Crosslake Edina Realtors organize fundraisers for contribution to the foundation throughout the year.

“We believe it’s our responsibility to help people for whom housing is a major issue in their lives,” said Mary DuBois Adamek, a sales agent and liaison to the Edina Realty Foundation. “We are proud to donate both our time and our money to these worthy organizations.”
