Tonya Heldt, director of the Mid-Minnesota Women’s Center, received household items and Walmart gift cards over the holiday season from Edina Realty Foundation representatives in Crosslake.

Heldt said the need for these items is critical throughout the year because women flee their homes with little or no warning to quickly find a safe place for themselves and their children. They most often arrive with only the clothes on their backs so basic clothing items for women and children and household items for when families can eventually leave the shelter are all a critical part of the recovery process.
