Volunteers sought to help with fire tower trail work

The Pequot Lakes fire tower, one of the sites along the Paul Bunyan Scenic Byway, is in need of a list of volunteers to help complete trail work.

The newly cut, meandering trail up to the tower needs a covering of wood chips and mulch. Filled tarps will have to be dragged along the trail and secured in place.

Anyone interested in helping can leave a name and contact information with Krista Okerman at or Rod Nelson at 612-803-7916. Volunteers will be contacted when the work date has been set.

In the meantime, the Pequot Lakes fire tower is open for hiking up to and climbing for an amazing view.
