Erickson announces candidacy for auditor-treasurer
Deborah A. (Goble) Erickson announces her candidacy for Crow Wing County auditor-treasurer.
Erickson currently serves as the taxpayer services manager in the Crow Wing County Auditor-Treasurer’s Office. She was Crow Wing County auditor from 2006-10 before the auditor and treasurer offices combined.
“I’m excited about the opportunity to continue serving the residents of Crow Wing County in a new role,” Erickson said. “I’ve had a chance over the past four years to consider where my strengths are and how I can be an asset to the organization and the county as a whole; and I strongly believe that my leadership skills, knowledge of all the responsibilities of the auditor-treasurer’s office and the organization as a whole, make me the best person for the job.”
Erickson began her career with Crow Wing County in the assessor’s office in 1994 and was hired as the deputy auditor/elections coordinator in 1999 before being elected to the county auditor position in 2006. Following the combination of the auditor and treasurer offices in 2011, she returned to the deputy auditor-treasurer/elections coordinator position in the combined office and also took on taxpayer services responsibilities in December of 2013.
Erickson said the duties of the auditor-treasurer are varied and cover a number of different segments, including property tax calculation and collection, finance, elections, real estate transfers, vital records and other areas.
“The scope of services provides many opportunities to serve the public and be part of the process to deliver better, more effective services. With my knowledge and experience in all these areas, I’m well positioned to work toward these goals,” Erickson said.
Erickson is certified in property tax calculation by the Minnesota Department of Revenue, holds an Elections Administrator certification from the Minnesota Secretary of State, and is a member of the Minnesota Association of County Officers and past member of the Minnesota Government Finance Officers Association.
Erickson currently serves as chair of the Elections Committee for the Minnesota Association of County Officers, and in that capacity she has worked with local and state officials during the past several legislative sessions to pass important election reform.
“I take great pride in our elections process here in Crow Wing County,” Erickson said. “We have extremely good election judges, our electorate is well informed and are active voters. It’s a great process to see.”
Erickson is a lifelong Crow Wing County resident, a graduate of Brainerd High School and received a Bachelor of Arts degree in business management from the College of St. Scholastica.
She is active in the community serving as president-elect of the Brainerd Rotary Club and current president of the Brainerd Public Schools Foundation. She is a member of St. Mathias Church serving on the church Finance Council, a past member of the Brainerd Jaycees and former Crosby-Ironton High School dance team coach.
She and her husband, Matt, live in Brainerd with their young son, Sam.
