Level 3 offender to be released between Backus and Hackensack
Convicted Level 3 predatory sex offender Oscar Leon Rono will move to the 1400 block of State Highway 371 Northwest near Backus on Monday, April 28.
According to the Minnesota Department of Corrections, Rono has a history of sexual contact with male victims ages 14 and 15. Rono knew the victims, and contact included penetration.
The Cass County Sheriff’s Office will hold a community notification meeting from 6-7 p.m. Monday, April 28, at the County Land Department Office in Backus. Concerned citizens are encouraged to attend the meeting to ask any questions they might have. There will be representatives from the Department of Corrections to assist in answering questions.
Rono is not wanted by authorities. His sentence will be served by the time of the notification meeting.
Rono is 5 feet 9 inches tall with sandy hair, light skin tones and hazel eyes. He has a medium build.
Level 3 sexual offenders are at the highest risk level among predatory offenders. They are considered most likely to re-offend. The state of Minnesota requires a community notification meeting upon the release of level 3 sexual offenders.
