CSAH 3 work begins in Crosslake-Fifty Lakes
Crow Wing County has entered into a contract with Anderson Brothers Construction Company of Brainerd, LLC for the reconstruction of County State Aid Highway (CSAH) 3 from CSAH 37 in Crosslake to CSAH 1 in Fifty Lakes.
The construction work will consist of grading, aggregate base, storm sewer, concrete curb and gutter, and bituminous surfacing.
Clearing and grubbing operations were to begin in new alignment sections Monday, April 7, between Pine Lure Drive and the Boy Scout Camp Road and then proceeding toward Fifty Lakes. The highway will remain open during this week of construction operations.
Beginning April 14, through traffic will be detoured from the construction site. The detour route will utilize CSAH 66 and CSAH 1. At this time, the contractor plans to begin grading operations on the north end of the project and progress south with the start date dependent on the weather, but no earlier than April 21.
Although the road will be open to local traffic for the duration of the construction project, there will be stages of construction such as excavation operations where it will be difficult to navigate through the construction zone.
Plan your daily route accordingly, expect delays, take extra time to drive safely and respect the contractor’s equipment and operators. Coordination will be ongoing to update emergency management personnel and local law enforcement on the conditions of the road as construction progresses.
Weather permitting and barring unforeseen circumstances, the current schedule has grading operations, storm sewer and concrete curb and gutter completed by the end of July, final aggregate base placement and final shaping completed in early August, and bituminous surfacing, turf establishment and pavement markings completed by Labor Day.
A complete construction schedule can be found on the county highway website at http://www.crowwing.us/index.aspx?nid=149.
The public’s patience and understanding through this construction project is appreciated. For questions, contact the Crow Wing County Highway Department at 218-824-1110.
