'Toxic Taters' topic of Fest, Film & Forum series April 3
On Thursday, April 3, Happy Dancing Turtle and Northwoods Unitarian Universalist Fellow-ship will present the third event of the Feast, Film & Forum series, called “No More Toxic Taters: Transitioning to Sustainable Potato Production in Minnesota.”
This will be held at Happy Dancing Turtle, starting at 5:30 p.m. for optional potluck supper, and program at 6 p.m.
The presenters will be from the Pesticide Action Network (PAN), which is a coalition of committed small farmers, White Earth tribal members, parents and grandparents and other rural residents who are concerned about pesticide drift from potato fields in central Minnesota.
They are working together to find a positive solution to this issue, because they believe that food can be produced in healthy ways that don’t harm people or the environment.
This event, and all of the series, is free and open to the public. Happy Dancing Turtle is located off Highway 371 in Pine River, at the Hunt Utilities Group Campus, 2331 Dancing Wind Road S.W. Look for the winds tower.
There are two more scheduled events in this series. On April 17, Tales From the Hive, on bees and beekeeping; and on May 1, the Health Dangers of Genetically Engineered Foods and Their Coverup.
