Retired K9 Portos passes
The Cass County Sheriff’s Office anounced that retired K-9 Portos died Tuesday afternoon, March 25.
Portos served the office under the guidance of K-9 Officer Bill Conner for seven years before retiring in December 2012. While serving the county, Portos was responsible for the detection of more than 20 pounds of narcotics and involved in the apprehension of numerous suspects.
Conner and Portos received recognition from the U.S. Police K-9 Association twice, one of which was for recovering 15 pounds of marijuana in a traffic stop. Portos held multiple regional and national certifications through the U.S. Police K-9 Association.
