Community Action of Pequot Lakes will host the Miss Pequot Lakes Scholarship Pageant at 7 p.m. Friday, April 11, in the Pequot Lakes High School auditorium.

Miss Pequot Lakes 2013 Angela Cole will crown one of five Pequot Lakes High School juniors and seniors as the area’s newest royalty.

Miss Pequot Lakes candidates are Megan Malecha, Vanessa Lane, Brianna Anick, Kalli Peterson and Emilee Buell.

Tickets to the pageant are $5 at the door and include a cake and punch reception after the pageant.

The first appearance of the 2014 Miss Pequot Lakes will be during the Pelican Lakes Conservation Club Breakfast the second Saturday in May.

Escorts for the candidates are Ainsley Erickson, Sydnie Wgeishofski, Morgan LaRock, Annika Schlagel, Morgan Eckes and Ambassador Escort Carly Chaney, fourth-graders at Eagle View Elementary School.

Three judges will review each contestant’s information before the pageant, as well as conduct an initial one-on-one interview with them. At the event, the Miss Pequot Lakes contestants will be judged on presences in both casual wear and formal wear, as well as to their answers to an impromptu question and talent performance.

Both the Miss Pequot Lakes contestants and escorts will perform an opening number being choreographed by Pequot Lakes Just For Kix dance instructors Alli Spieker, Khloe Wiewel and Shai Peterson. Master of ceremony will be George Rasmusson, editor of the Breezy Pointer from Breezy Point Resort.

A few former Miss Pequot Lakes and Miss Pequot Lakes Princesses will be a part of the pageant program.

The Miss Pequot Lakes Scholarship Pageant provides prizes to all participants, thanks to the support of area businesses and individual sponsors. Scholarship amounts are $1,000 for Miss Pequot Lakes, $500 for Miss Pequot Lakes Princess, and $100 for Miss Congeniality.

Anyone wishing to still donate to the scholarship fund or to volunteer can call Kimberly Ziesemer at 218-851-2764.
