Sandpiper Pipeline public meeting March 12
Public meetings for the proposed Sandpiper oil pipeline by Enbridge have begun, with one of the meetings to be held from 6-9 p.m. Wednesday, March 12, at Pine River-Backus School.
Those who are interested in attending may submit oral or written comments. Representatives of Enbridge and the state will be present to answer questions about the pipeline. Topics to be discussed may include alternative route options and environmental impacts.
The proposed Sandpiper pipeline would carry oil from Tioga, N.D., to Superior, Wis. The pipeline would pass through area townships following a power line right-of-way most of the way. This route would cross under Highway 371 between Pine River and Backus in the same area as the high line.
