East Gull Lake council discusses moratorium on duplexes
The East Gull Lake City Council heard the results of a planning and zoning meeting on a possible moratorium on duplexes at the Feb. 6 regular meeting.
According to draft meeting minutes, planning and zoning discussed the possibility of removing the terminology of “duplex” from the city ordinance; forbidding multi-family dwellings constructed under a conditional use permit (CUP) in certain areas; requiring multi-family dwellings to be considered under planned unit development (PUD) and only within certain areas; requiring PUDs to connect to city wastewater services if they are within 500 feet of an existing wastewater line; and requiring that no residential multi-family dwellings be constructed on riparian property.
In other business, the council:
• Approved a CUP for Tom Williams for the H.R. White Subdivision of Gull Lake Shores located at 1029 Green Gables Road with conditions. The CUP requested the increase of impervious surface coverage on the riparian portion of the property to not more than 25 percent.
