Frozen Fore events to take place Feb. 21-23

The ninth annual Gull Lake Frozen Fore will be Friday-Sunday, Feb. 21-23, including the Frozen Flop, a pancake breakfast fundraiser, a hockey tournament and golfing in the snow.

Frozen Fore event proceeds will benefit Confidence Learning Center, Mount Ski Gull, the Northern Lakes Lightning Blue Line Club, and Kids Against Hunger-Brainerd Lakes Area in Nisswa, all nonprofits.

Participating Gull Lake locations include Ernie’s, Zorbaz, Jake’s, Cowboy’s, Bar Harbor, Sherwood Forest, Cragun’s Legacy Courses and Grand View Lodge. Headquarters is at Hole-in-the-Day Bay of Gull Lake.

Friday, Feb. 21

The second annual Gull Lake Frozen Flop, where participants jump into Gull Lake and have the opportunity to win prizes, will be at 6 p.m. at the Hole-in-the-Day Bay tent headquarters.

Cost is $25 per participant with proceeds to be donated to their choice of the benefiting nonprofits. Those who don’t want to flop can sponsor someone who is.

Sponsor forms and contributions must be turned in to sponsoring locations or the Frozen Flop registration booth. Registration begins at 5 p.m.

A Tent Party will follow the flop, featuring an ice bar, food and live music by Mother’s Hotdish. Cost is $10 for those without a Frozen Fore ticket.

Saturday, Feb. 22

Kids Against Hunger-Brainerd Lakes Area in Nisswa will host its second annual pancake breakfast from 9 a.m. to noon at the Frozen Fore headquarters tent on Hole-in-the-Day Bay.

Donations to Kids Against Hunger will get people a stack of Stonehouse in Nisswa’s Minnesota Morning buttermilk pancakes, sausage and Stonehouse coffee.

Frozen Fore participants can take free shuttles or their own snowmobiles or vehicles to play nine holes of winter golf at the nine participating locations around Gull Lake from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.

A 4-on-4 pond hockey tournament will take place at 10 a.m. on Hole-in-the-Day Bay, and there will be a digital scavenger hunt. A Tent Party will start at 6 p.m. with an ice bar, food and live music from YNOTT. Boogie Wonderland will provide music at 9 p.m. Cost is $10 without a Frozen Fore ticket.

Sunday, Feb. 23

The Frozen Fore Food Fest will feature local restaurants serving food and a taste competition at 11 a.m. at Hole-in-the-Day Bay. Cost is $10 without a Frozen Fore ticket.

The digital scavenger hunt show will be at noon with drawings, awards and prizes at 1 p.m.

Frozen Fore tickets are $45 per person in advance or $50 per person that weekend and can be purchased online at or at sponsoring locations.
