Man frozen to death under porch

VIRGINIA, Minn. -- A man missing for a month apparently froze to death, police said after his body was found under a porch in Virginia.

Andrew Christopher Kanian, 41, was reported missing Jan. 2.  Virginia police received a call just before 2 p.m. Monday that someone found his body under a porch in the 300 block of Third Street South. He was found a half-block from where he was last seen. Police said they do not believe foul play was involved.

"Our investigation of the case revealed that Mr. Kanian was intoxicated on the evening of January 2, and it appeared that he crawled under the porch area, fell asleep and froze," police said in a statement.

Kanian was last seen at the Rider’s bar about midnight in Virginia.

A post on a Facebook page devoted to finding Kanian stated his body was found Monday afternoon.
