Antique Snowmobile Rendezvous set Jan. 17-19 in Pequot Lakes

The 20th annual Antique Snowmobile Rendezvous hosted by the Pequot Brush Pilots Snowmobile Club will be Friday-Sunday, Jan. 17-19, in Pequot Lakes. This is also the Antique Snowmobile Club of America (ASCOA) winter convention.

Admission is free for all spectators. Following is a schedule of events:

Friday, Jan. 17

1 p.m.: Trail ride for all old and new sleds on the Paul Bunyan Trail to Timberjack Smokehouse and back to Pequot Lakes for a campfire cookout. Unload and start at the Pequot Lakes Welcome Center parking lot.

5-8 p.m.: Social hour at the Pequot Lakes American Legion.

6-9 p.m.: Regsitration at the Legion.

7 p.m.: ASCOA board meeting at Pequot Lakes School.

Saturday, Jan. 18

9-11 a.m.: Registration at the American Legion. Participants must be an ASCOA member to race.

9 a.m.: General ASCOA membership meeting at the Legion.

Noon: Drag, oval, reverse oval and obstacle rallies and vintage snowmobile show. A $20 registration cost is refundable with the return of the bib for the rally. The antique and vintage show is free. Because of safety concerns, only 1966 and older sleds may race. All others are invited to the trail ride and show. Judges will use ASCOA formula to determine winners. Concessions will be provided.

1 p.m.: Second trail ride.

5:30 p.m.: Vintage style show at the Legion featuring old snowmobile clothing. Bring old clothing to show off.

6 p.m.: Social hour, dinner and awards ceremony at the Legion. Guest speaker Bob Krawchuk, Bosak Power Toboggan historian, will speak on the history of his grandfather Mike Bosak’s snowmobile company. Awards for rally winners, oldest operational machine, best original antique, best restored antique Cutter Class/People’s Choice Award, Rat Sled (must run), best original/restored vintage machine (1969 or newer) and best costume awards will be given.

Sunday, Jan. 19

8 a.m.-1 p.m.: Omelette breakfast at the Legion will be open to the public.

The event is sponsored by the Pequot Brush Pilots, Ideal Sno Pros and American Legion.
