Celebrate Ice Fest Jan. 3-4 in Breezy Point

The 19th annual Ice Fest will be Friday and Saturday, Jan. 3-4, in Breezy Point, promising free “hard water fun” on Pelican Lake at Breezy Point Resort.

The festivities will kick off Friday, Jan. 3, with a bonfire on Pelican Lake Bay at 7 p.m., followed by live music at Dockside and the Commander at 8 p.m.

Saturday, Jan. 4, will begin with a pancake breakfast from 7:30-11 a.m. at the Pelican Lakes Conservation Club.

The rest of the Saturday, Jan. 4, schedule is as follows:

All Day: Blinkie button specials and bonfire on shore of Pelican Lake; Wolf Moon Kennel dogsled rides ($5/person); concession stand; ice slide (shore of Pelican Lake); new product display.

7:30-11 a.m.: Pancake breakfast, Pelican Lakes Conservation Club.

9 a.m.-4 p.m.: Pond Hockey 4 on 4 Tournament (register by Jan. 2).

9 a.m.-6 p.m.: Vendor craft fair (Lakeside Room of Marina II at Breezy Point Resort).

9:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m.: Kids’ fishing program, kids’ fishing Olympics by Simply Outdoor Experiences.

10 a.m.-2 p.m.: Horse-drawn trolley rides by Action Entertainment.

10 a.m.-4 p.m.: Snowmobile radar runs.

10 a.m.-4 p.m.: Snow golf (Pelican Lake).

Noon-2 p.m.: Power Ice Auger World Championships Competition (Pelican Lake). Registration is at 11 a.m.

2-4 p.m.: Figure skating exhibitions and lessons by Breezy Point Figure Skating Club (Pelican Lake).

6:15 p.m.: Presentation of the colors by American Legion Post 49 Pequot Lakes (Pelican Lake).

6:30 p.m.: Fireworks.

8 p.m.: Live entertainment at local establishments: Commander Bar (Red Dot Garage, bikini contest); JJ’s (bar bingo); Dockside (Tammy and The Bachelor).

Blinkie button specials are available both days at participating businesses during regular hours. The buttons are $5.
