Email News Alerts

An early morning traffic stop on Nov. 1 for a speed violation resulted in the arrest of an East Gull Lake man for burglary and receiving stolen property. A Lake Shore police officer was working a Toward Zero Deaths (TZD) traffic enforcement project when the officer observed a vehicle speeding on County Road 78 in Lake Shore. During the investigation of the stop, officers seized numerous construction related tools and power tools. Officers learned the suspects had just burglarized a home in Lake Shore about a mile from where they were stopped.

The driver of the vehicle, Tyler J. Pavlacky, 25, of East Gull Lake was arrested on suspicion of burglary and receiving stolen property. Authorities are also seeking a passenger who fled from the scene into the woods. Authorities believe the passenger is Joshua G. Olson, 22, of Pine River. Felony arrest warrants have been previously issued for Olson. Reports have been forwarded to the Cass County Attorney’s Office for formal charges.

TZD is a federally funded program that allows extra officers to work traffic enforcement to keep our roads safe. Lake Shore Police Chief Steve Sundstrom said, “This just shows how traffic enforcement is very useful, not only in keeping our roads safe, but solving other crimes as well.”

Assisting the Lake Shore Police Department was the Cass County Sheriffs Office and the Nisswa Police Department.
