Crosslake begins ordinance review process
The Crosslake City Council hired John Sumption on Monday, Oct. 14, to review and revise the city’s shoreland ordinances. Sumption was hired at a flat rate of $10,000 plus mileage costs.
The council’s decision to hire Sumption was unanimous.
Council member Mark Wessels proposed hiring Sumption, saying Sumption had performed similar work for Crow Wing County.
Wessels proposed that upon completion of the draft revisions, the city post the proposed changes online and hold a 30-day comment period for public input. After reviewing comments, the planning and zoning commission will review proposed revisions, hold a public hearing and make a recommendation to the city council to approve, revise or deny the changes.
In his letter to the council, Sumption said he will be able to begin work on the project after Nov. 1. Delivery of the final draft documents will be mutually determined to accommodate the city’s preferred adoption target date, the letter stated.
Wessels hoped to have council approval on the revisions in March or early April 2014.
