Mission Fire receives donation
Mission Township Fire Chief Randy Roach recently accepted a $2,000 donation from Mission Fire Auxiliary member Jan Slayton.
Dollars donated to the fire department were earned from various fundraising efforts the Mission Fire Auxiliary held throughout the year. Events include an annual raffle at the Mission Fire Fair, brat sales at the Mission Township Fourth of July parade, Christmas wreath sales and bake sales.
The auxiliary meets the third Wednesday of each month for lunch, fun and a short meeting to discuss upcoming township events. Auxiliary activities may include providing a meal for the firefighters during a controlled burn, organizing a benefit for a needy Mission Township resident or planning the next fundraiser.
Roach thanks the Mission Fire Auxiliary for its fundraising efforts. This $2,000 donation will go toward purchasing Wild Land Firefighting Gear and to help equip two new fire trucks that will arrive in early 2014.
Roach also thanks the community for its continuing support for the firefighters and the fire department.
