City sets preliminary levy at $70,000
The Manhattan Beach City Council set the city’s 2014 preliminary levy at $70,000 during its regular monthly meeting Sept. 3, according to meeting minutes. That’s the same rate as the 2013 levy.
The levy can be lowered, but not raised, before the final levy is approved in December.
In other business Sept. 3, minutes show the council:
• Decided it will look into new audio recording devices for city council meetings as the former recorder failed.
• Heard that letters were sent to people who were violating the city’s ordinances, and that they have 30 days to respond.
• Thanked Ralph Iverson for putting up a new American flag and properly disposing of the old one.
