Three seek open city council seat

Three men have asked to be appointed to the Nisswa City Council position that’s been vacant since Lenny Hodgson resigned in mid-July.

They are Joe Meyer, a lieutenant with the Crow Wing County Sheriff’s Department; John Ryan, who retired in August as a Pequot Lakes police officer; and Don Jacobson, who ran in the 2012 election for a council seat.

Current council members Tina Foster and Jan Pierce will interview the three candidates and rank them for a decision at the October meeting, the council decided at its regular meeting Wednesday, Sept. 18.

The person appointed will serve for about a year, through 2014. The seat will be on the November 2014 election ballot.
