Fire destroys race car trailer at BIR

Fire destroyed a race car trailer in the infield of Brainerd International Raceway on Saturday, Aug. 31, during the time trials for the Lucas Oil Muscle Car Shootout.

No one was injured, but the trailer was a total loss.

Public safety and fire officials did not believe the cause to have been suspicious, and initially considered the source to have been electrical within the open and unoccupied trailer.

One safety official noted that there was a full 55-gallon fuel drum within the trailer and, fortunately for all, it did not ignite. On-site fire crews extinguished the blaze using water from a pumper truck on scene for the event.

The owners were not identified; however, their license plates were from Minnesota.
