PR-B's first two weeks

The first week of September ushers in the beginning of the new school year, and Pine River-Backus is off to a busy start.

Grades 7-12 will begin their school year Tuesday, Sept. 3, while K-6 students will start Thursday, Sept. 5. In the meantime there is orientation for elementary students from noon to 7:50 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 3, and 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 4.

Athletic teams have been revving up in August and will soon put all their hard practice to good use. The Tigers varsity football team has its first away game Friday, Aug. 30, in Fosston, followed by a home game Friday, Sept. 6, the first Friday of the school year.

PR-B’s varsity volleyball team travels to Verndale for a game Thursday, Aug. 29, and to Nevis Thursday, Sept. 5.

This year’s cross country team will be on the road to its second event of the year with the Thursday, Sept. 5, meet against Pequot Lakes at Crosswoods.
