PR-B Community Garden hosts open house
The Pine River-Backus Community Garden held an open house on Tuesday, Aug. 13, to offer the community a chance to tour the garden and see what’s growing.
Guests were able to taste the food growing in the gardens and hear about interesting varieties of vegetables or discuss growing techniques.
The community garden is hosting 32 gardeners this year, using most of the 50 plots available. A wide variety of vegetables are being grown, including cabbage, squash, beans, lettuce, carrots, tomatoes and more, as well as a variety of edible flowers, which are the garden’s annual plant of the year.
In addition to gardeners tending their own plots, the PR-B schools are growing pumpkins that they’ll sell in the fall for the PTO’s annual sale.
