In response to a new nuisance ordinance passed at the July 9 council meeting, the Emily City Council on Aug. 13 received a petition against that ordinance, according to draft council minutes from the Aug. 13 meeting.
The council repealed the ordinance and began formation of a new committee.
The petition contained 321 signatures requesting that the council “immediately cease and desist, stop, remove, dissolve, and/or throw out the Nuisance Ordinance 802.2 series as written.”
