Crosslake Summer Reading Club wraps up the season
The Crosslake Area Library hosted a Summer Reading Club that just wrapped up six weeks of learning and encouraging children to read.
Each Thursday featured a new theme, including guitar music, karate, rocket launching, a magician and horseback riding.
The children were also given the opportunity every Thursday to check out books from the library. Each participant received a free book for participating, courtesy of the library, and children were offered books as an incentive for reading a certain amount each week.
Ginny Hersey, children’s program director for the Summer Reading Club, said private donations fund the club, which had 80 participants this year. The club is divided into two age groups: ages 5-8 and grades three to four.
For their last day at the club, the children had a chance to ride horses and had ice cream outside the community center.
