More than 30 classmates and former classmates have registered for the reunion.

Activities will begin at 10 a.m. Friday with a golf scramble at Black Bear Golf Course, one mile north of Pine River, east of Highway 371. Also at 10 a.m., coffee and doughnuts will be served at the clubhouse for a social gathering of non-golfing classmates and guests.

This first social event of the weekend will include distribution of the PRHS Class ‘63 Commemorative Book featuring biographies and photos of 37 class members along with personalized commemorative bookmarkers.

At 11 a.m. Friday, classmates and guests are invited to a short historic walking tour of downtown Pine River. Brochures with facts and history, and 29 kiosks are in place, compliments of Heritage Group North (HGN).

Arrive 15 minutes early at the starting point, the Pine River Chamber of Commerce. Alison Amy Stephens, PRHS class of 1967 and a board member of HGN, will guide the main street tour. The brochure map will take participants to other historic sites around town in their free time.

From 6-8 p.m. Friday, classmates, guests and friends from other PRHS classes are invited to share memories and stories at the Pine River American Legion over refreshments and pizza.

From 1-3 p.m. Saturday, the class and guests are invited to the Marlow Matinee — “Recent Happenings in Our Home Town” — at Pine River’s Historic Train Depot next to the chamber office by the stoplight. Following a 35-minute narrated movie, participants will view and discuss old black and white movies of Pine River and its people that were taken by cinema-photographer and local businessman John M. Rohr of the Marlow.

Popcorn is compliments of the Pine River State Bank, but bring your own Slo Pokes and Coke.

The social hour-cash bar at Bites Grill & Bar will begin at 5 p.m. Saturday with a class photo scheduled before dinner at 5:45 p.m. Bites is about one mile south of Pine River on the west side of Highway 371.

Following the 6 p.m. dinner, one class member will take home a one-of-a- kind Pine River/Class ‘63 quilt created and crafted by classmate Walter Weiss. This quilt features the old school, homecoming, class play and other memories of 1963.

There will be a short “Show & Tell Program” with alumni participation. Classmates are invited to bring school years memorabilia for Saturday night’s Memory Makers Table.

The 10-member class reunion planning committee, chaired by Al Abear (aldonna@tds.net, 587-2686) and co-chaired by Barb Brezinsky (bbrezins@uslink.net, 218-587-2237), has been planning the celebration for the past two years. Contact them for more information.
