Photography is topic of Aug. 14 Chautauqua program

John Erickson will present “Abstract and Impressionistic Art, Photography, and You: ‘What the Heck Is That?’ and Why You Want to Love Picasso” at the Wednesday, Aug. 14, Crosslake Chautauqua program.

The presentation will be from 1:30-3:30 p.m. at the Crosslake Community Center.

Erickson has made pictures for nearly 50 years, recently experimenting with new techniques in digital photography. He has discovered different ways of thinking about “creative beauty” and “artistic meaning,” applying that knowledge to his photography.

At the Chautauqua program, he will show a selection of his images and discuss how he approaches photography, which allows him not to dread that next museum or gallery visit.
