Informational meetings called in Backus and Longville

Residents and business owners in Backus and Longville are invited to attend informational meetings hosted by the Cass County Economic Development Corp. and their respective city to gather information on a possible 2014 grant request to rehabilitate homes and businesses in the city limits.

Meetings will be from 5-6 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 1, at Longville City Hall and from 5-6 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 3, at Backus City Hall. There will be a presentation on how the grant program would work, who could use it and proposed timeline for funding. Residents will have an opportunity to ask questions and sign a letter of intent if they would be interested in using the grant funds. It is vital to attend if you think you might be interested in applying for funds. The more interest there is, the better the chance the city of Longville or Backus will receive the grant.

If there is sufficient interest to proceed with the grant request, it will be joint project in both Backus and Longville. If residents are unable to attend the informational meeting in their own community, they can attend the meeting in the alternative city.

The Cass County Economic Development Corporation (EDC) is coordinating this project. The EDC is a community non-profit corporation with the mission to “Improve the business environment of Cass County by encouraging a strong, diverse and sustainable economy and to build better relationships between business, government agencies and local communities.”
