Ann Swanson hired as new Backus City Clerk
At a special meeting July 15 the Backus City Council selected Ann Swanson to fill the vacancy left by city clerk/treasurer Jeff Turk, who is taking a position with the Deerwood City Council.
Swanson might be familiar to some Pine River area residents from the time she spent practicing law in Pine River, though for the last 10 years she has been serving as the clerk for the Shingobee Township Board near Walker, MN. She intends to continue with the board even as she serves the Backus City Council.
She is originally from Hallock, in the Northwest corner of Minnesota, but currently lives in Walker, MN.
Swanson was also the coordinator for the Cass County Parents Forever Program. She has a B.A. in economics from Moorhead State and received her law degree from Hamline University.
“I’m pleased. I’ve been looking forward to working with the Backus City Council and Mayor,” Swanson said. “I’m thankful for the opportunity.”
Swanson started with the city July 17.
