Gull River Road bridge being replaced
Construction to replace the bridge on the Gull River Road began Monday, July 8, and the road will be closed to through traffic during construction.
Anticipated completion date is Oct. 4.
Gull River Road is north of Baxter near the Cass County line, running from Cass County State Aid Highway 70 north and east to Gull Lake Dam Road.
During construction, the work site will be impassable. A detour uses Cass County State Aid Highway 70, East Gull Lake Drive and Gull Lake Dam Road (County Road 105). This detour traverses through a Corps of Engineers campground and uses a one-lane bridge in that area. Extreme caution is requested when traveling through this area.
In addition, due to safety concerns at the site and erosion control items that will be placed in the river itself, no river traffic can be allowed through the site. This includes canoes, kayaks, tubes, etc.
Coordination with the Corps of Engineers has taken place to advise visitors to the campground of this condition.
