Pine River man found dead at Manhattan Beach crash site

The Crow Wing County Sheriff’s Office responded to a single car crash fatality at 4:33 p.m. June 23 on Goldenstein Road, north of County Road 1 in Manhattan Beach.

The crash, which was difficult to see from the roadway due to trees and brush, appeared to have occurred during the late night or early morning hours. The crash had been found by a passing motorist who noticed tire tracks leaving the roadway and entering into a farm field, which led to the car crash being found.

The victim, 34-year-old Carl Stromberg of Pine River, was pronounced deceased at the scene. Stromberg was the only occupant in the car and was wearing his seatbelt at the time of the crash. Stromberg’s body has been sent to the Ramsey County Medical Examiner’s Office to determine the cause of death.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation. Assisting with the investigation and at the scene was the Minnesota State Patrol. Also assisting at the scene was the Crosslake Fire Department.
