Lyscio hired as Crosslake Community School Executive Director
Todd Lyscio begins July 1 as the executive director at Crosslake Community School.
He joins the school with 29 years of experience in education and education-related fields.
Lyscio will succeed Tami Martin, who resigned to take a position as superintendent of schools at Gibbon-Fairfax-Winthrop in southern Minnesota.
During his career, Lyscio has served as a classroom teacher, counselor, coach, activities director, middle school assistant principal, high school principal, director of community education and, most recently, as the head of a regional education service agency.
Lyscio has expressed excitement over his return to a role that allows him to be in more direct contact with students, their families and the staff who daily impact their education. He said he is thrilled to work in an environment that seems to have a strong emphasis on whole-child development as well as a desire to impact the community in which the school is located.
Knowing that a key element of Crosslake Community School, as with other charter schools, is innovation, Lyscio looks forward to working in a setting that promotes creativity and collaboration among students and staff.
In addition, he looks forward to connecting with a community that has already demonstrated a high level of support, given the success of the recent fundraising event held at Moonlite Bay.
Lyscio and his wife, Connie, live in Baxter, where she teaches for the Brainerd schools. They have two sons: Tom, a graduate student at St. Scholastica in Duluth; and Mike, a freshman at Brainerd High School.
When not working, Lyscio enjoys music, golf, skiing, reading and time with the family and their two dogs, Riglee and Roo.
Crosslake Community School will host a meet and greet from 6:30-8 p.m. Tuesday, July 9, to provide the community and Crosslake Community School families the opportunity to meet Lyscio. Refreshments will be provided.
