Ruud, Ward encourage sneaker donations

The Women’s Center of Mid-Minnesota, Sen. Carrie Ruud and Rep. John Ward encourage residents to donate their unwanted sneakers to benefit the Women’s Center of Mid-Minnesota and Sexual Assault Services.

All shoes are valuable. Shoes that are used, but not used up, will be given to individuals in need. Shoes with holes will be recycled and the Women’s Center of Mid-Minnesota will receive 50 cents per pound for recycled shoes.

“We all have a pair or two of old sneakers we no longer need. Instead of tossing them in the garbage, this is a great opportunity to help those in need and a great organization in our community,” said Ruud.

Shoes should be tied together, placed in a plastic grocery bag and dropped off at either Mills Ford in Baxter or Pamela’s Hair Studio at 1803 Oak St. in Brainerd.
