Man shot in Crosslake

The Crosslake Police Department reported that at approximately 6 p.m. Monday, June 3, law enforcement responded to a reported shooting at 17027 County Road 36 in Crosslake, the home of Larry and Susan Bolton.

Crosslake Police Chief Robert Hartman said that dispatch received a 911 call from a female stating there was a shooting, and the shooter was still at the scene.

The department reported that upon arrival, a 59-year-old man was taken into custody without incident. Hartman said there was no struggle, but the man refused to answer questions and asked for a lawyer.

A 31-year-old man was airlifted from the area shortly after with injuries to a leg. The two men were acquaintances, according to a press release.

Hartman said he believes the 31-year-old man was shot only once. The department could not report which hospital the man was airlifted to and stated the extent of his injuries were unknown as of Tuesday, June 4.

Hartman said both the Crosslake police and the Crow Wing County Sheriff’s Department responded to the incident. The incident is still under investigation.

Hartman said it’s the first shooting he’s seen since he joined the department more than 18 years ago.
